Meet Padget

Hi! I wish that you and I were having coffee and going on a walk together right now. Second best is spending time with you online. Thanks for being here!

I am a born and raised farm girl, wellness fanatic, wife, and mother of three beautiful daughters.

I love my MD training and think Western medicine is awesome because we are so amazing at saving lives, but it has big gaps on day-to-day wellness. As medical doctors, we often don’t get time to deep dive into how to stay well and optimally care for your body to avoid long-term illness. I know both are important, so I save very sick kids' lives in the hospital at work, and am using this platform to spread as much inspiration as I can for your child to stay well.

Want the real story?

As a mom, I wanted to give my kids the best chance at a healthy life. The further I dove into the wellness space, sometimes the more confused I got. There is so much for adults, but little for kids, and some of it contradicts each other and science.

Who should I believe? Why do they contradict each other? How bad is this type of food or dye, etc? Is this all about food? What about screens, mental health, movement?

hen, I'd deep dive into the data, and eventually feel like I understood well enough to form my own opinion..SIGH of RELIEF. But then I realized that if I have 8 years of training in reading, interpreting and authoring my own research articles - are my fellow mamas without a science background or lots of time to research supposed to interpret all of this?!

Then I really wanted to teach all of my families in clinic, but couldn’t find the time in our current medical system. I felt like I was failing my patients and their parents by only skimming the surface.

And so this idea was born: to educate all families about wellness and healthy habits, not just those lucky enough to afford it. I'm trying to give you a basic blueprint of how to raise a healthy family in a very tangible, real life way.

I’m still figuring it all out, but if you’re here for the mess of it all, then I’m definitely your doctor mama to follow. I want so badly to help kids be well and believe firmly this is the greatest way to spread knowledge and start.

Education & Credentials

I’m a born and raised Iowan farm girl, but love big cities and travel. I’ve lived in both NYC and LA, as well as Nashville while working at Vanderbilt.

I attended undergraduate at College of St. Benedicts/St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. I majored in economics and minored in nutrition science. I studied abroad my junior year in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  I wrote my college thesis on “Economic costs of Obesity”.

I went to medical school at Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and was Mayor my community. I studied in Gothenburg Sweden as an M4 to understand better how and why they have the best maternal/fetal morbidity/mortality rates in the world. It was insanely cool.

I trained as a pediatric resident at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital from 2014-2018. I had a leave of absence while pregnant in residency for severe peripartum depression and anxiety  - I could write a book on this but my psychiatrist and Ob/Gyn saved my life.

I started as a board-certified pediatrician in 2018. I opened a pediatric obesity clinic in 2019. I transitioned to pediatric hospitalist in 2022. I am currently President of our Pediatric Department and Physician Wellness Director for our organization.

I became a certified health coach in 2024.  I am a graduate from Stanford physician wellness director program also 2024.
